How might we design a usable and reliable experience for highly technical workflows, enabling users to perform precise tasks efficiently across different devices and environments?

Testing, Inspection & Certification

Responsive Web App and Mobile App

Year

2023 to 2024

I worked as a UI/UX Designer across 11 cross-platform applications used in the testing, inspection, and certification industry. My role covered interaction design, visual design, and end-to-end UX delivery.

I designed solutions that balanced technical accuracy with usability for field inspectors operating in real-world conditions. This included adapting mobile-first applications into responsive desktop and tablet experiences while maintaining consistency and meeting regulatory requirements.

I collaborated closely with business analysts, developers, and product stakeholders to translate complex inspection processes into clear and usable digital workflows.

My experience

Problem: What’s not working?

Several challenges made the experience complex and difficult to scale:

  • Highly technical and computation-heavy workflows, requiring precision in measurements and compliance-related calculations

  • Diverse user profiles, including inspectors with varying levels of digital familiarity and physical constraints such as vision limitations

  • Unpredictable field conditions, affecting device usage and accessibility

  • Overreliance on pop-ups, interrupting workflows and slowing task completion

  • Inefficient use of screen space, especially when adapting mobile designs to larger displays

  • Mismatch between desktop and mobile workflows, creating inconsistencies in how tasks were completed

I understand that social proof is important. At the same time, my relationships with clients and previous companies matter just as much.

Due to strict NDAs, I am unable to share detailed visuals or specific client information for some projects. In certain cases, screens have been adapted, modified, or blurred to protect sensitive data. In others, I have chosen not to show them at all to fully respect confidentiality requirements.

What I can share is how I approach complex problems, collaborate with teams, and deliver meaningful outcomes. If you are curious, I would be happy to walk you through these experiences.

Impact & Value Proposition

I improved usability and efficiency across complex inspection workflows by:

  • Translating mobile-first designs into responsive desktop and tablet experiences while maintaining consistency and optimizing layouts for better data visibility

  • Simplifying interaction patterns by replacing disruptive pop-ups with inline components, enabling smoother and uninterrupted workflows

  • Designing comparison-friendly layouts, including side-by-side views, to support faster and more accurate decision-making

  • Validating solutions with field inspectors to ensure usability aligned with real-world conditions and varying levels of digital familiarity

  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to balance technical accuracy, regulatory requirements, and user needs

  • Improved data visibility and usability across larger screens

  • Reduced workflow interruptions and increased task efficiency

  • Enhanced clarity and usability for both experienced inspectors and less tech-familiar users

  • Enabled more consistent experiences across devices while adapting to different contexts of use

  • Influenced additional feature development and broader design adoption beyond the initial scope
